Fall & Winter?

For Art’s Sake offers a variety of ART CLASSES! From Drawing to Painting to General Art & Private Lessons, we have options for all ages and skill levels! Classes are held August-May with the exception of Private Lessons which are available year-round.

Oh, and in case we forget to mention it in the descriptions below, all of our classes are first and foremost FUN!

Regular classes will be held August 2025 - May 2026. Class dates and times are listed below.

The classes listed below are our current recurring class options. Receive email updates on newly offered or additional specialty classes by signing up for informational updates at the bottom of this page.

Each class is set up on a 20-week semester with four weeks per session. We encourage interested students to sign up for the whole semester in order to cultivate their creative abilities and prepare them for higher level classes. You can sign up for any of the sessions at any time… meaning if you missed a session or two, you could still sign up for the next session.

We follow the Madison City school system as far as school closings including inclement weather days.

*Pre-determined school closings have been rescheduled and are denoted by an *asterisk next to the class dates listed on the individual class Registration pages. Unexpected school closings will be rescheduled, and we will email registrants with the make-up dates.

*We cannot accommodate drop-ins. Please let us know in advance if your kiddo would like to try a class out before signing up for a session.

*Grown-ups are welcome to drop off and pick up your kiddos or stay for a while until you and your young artist are comfortable with the class. We have found, through our teaching experience, that children tend to learn more quickly, are more creative and develop more independence and confidence in their abilities when the instructors are the only source of teaching during class. If you decide to stay and observe, we respectfully ask that you not assist your kiddo during class.

  • "Unbe-leaf-able Art!"

    Fall Break Art Camp

    October 6 - 10

    9AM - 2PM

    For Art's Sake’s Fall Art Camp offers children ages 6-13 a chance to explore their inner artist! This week, we will create some "Unbe-leaf-able!" Fall themed artworks! Campers will have the opportunity to work with a range of mediums including painting, drawing and 3D materials. We value individuality and creativity, so student choice is incorporated into all art activities. We strive to foster confidence in artistic expression and technical skill. Most of all, we strive to have fun! All skill levels are welcome!

  • "Fun & Frosty!"

    Winter Break General Art Camps

    Session 1: December 22nd & 23rd

    Session 2: December 29th - 31st & January 2nd

    Our Winter Break Art Camps offer children ages 6-13 a chance to explore their inner artist! This Winter, we are ready to make some “Fun & Frosty!” creations, so grab your mittens and create some cozy, Winter-themed artworks with us! Campers will have the opportunity to work with a range of mediums including painting, drawing and 3D materials. During camp, we will explore creativity and learn new artistic skills. Each day of camp will be unique so campers can attend one day or all six and create new and different take-home artworks each day. We strive to foster confidence in artistic expression and technical skill. Most of all, we strive to have fun! All skill levels are welcome! We are excited to see you there!

    Private Instruction is a one-on-one teacher/student lesson where For Art’s Sake artists will develop individualized instruction based on the students’ interests and skill level. Each session is four weeks long. Participants are encouraged to sign up for multiple sessions as the overall course will progress throughout the season.

Throughout the course students will explore traditional and non-traditional art making materials, participate in creativity exercises and learn about the connection between visual art and the wider world.

  • General Art for Teens

    General Art is for students who are interested in a variety of art making techniques and materials. Throughout the course students will explore traditional and non-traditional art making materials, participate in creativity exercises and learn about the connection between visual art and the wider world.

    Each session is four weeks long. Participants are encouraged to sign up for multiple sessions as the overall course will progress throughout the season.

  • Drawing 1

    Drawing 1 is for Elementary aged students who are interested in developing their drawing skills using a variety of drawing media including but not limited to graphite pencils, colored pencils, markers, charcoal, and ink. Students will not only focus on building technical skills but also on the expressive nature of drawing.

    Each session is four weeks long. Participants are encouraged to sign up for multiple sessions as the overall course will progress throughout the season.

  • Drawing 2 & 3

    Drawing 2 & 3 are for students approximately 10 and up. For Art’s Sake teachers will work with the student and family to determine the best placement for each student based on experience rather than age.

    In Drawing 2 students will continue to develop their proficiency with drawing materials.

    Drawing 3 students will continue that development as well as explore their individual artistic styles.

    Each session is four weeks long. Participants are encouraged to sign up for multiple sessions as the overall course will progress throughout the season.

  • Painting 1

    Painting 1 is for Elementary aged students who are interested in developing their painting skills using a variety of painting media such as watercolor, gouache, acrylic, pastels, etc. Students will not only focus on building technical skills but also on the expressive nature of painting.

    Each session is four weeks long. Participants are encouraged to sign up for multiple sessions as the overall course will progress throughout the season.

    Adult Art is for anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in a variety of art making techniques and materials. This class will focus on introducing traditional as non-traditional art making materials to students as well as refining the techniques of the more experienced artist. All skill levels are welcome.

    Each session is four weeks long. Participants are encouraged to sign up for multiple sessions as the overall course will progress throughout the season.
